O’lena is sick! :(

Well it has been three weeks at the daycare and we are finally sick. It actually took longer than I expected. She has been coughing at night so we took her in on Monday and they said she had some upper respiratory infection, but was fine. Well we went back today with a full blown ear infection in one ear and a soon to be infection in the other. Her first ear infections of her childhood. It was interesting trying to finagle things to get out of work in a hurry. It is a bit hard with my kid-os; see previous blog :)

There are good things about daycare too. She has learned many new things very quickly. She is pulling herself up and standing on her own! People keep telling me she is going to be walking soon. I really don’t like that idea! I don’t want that. I’m not ready for that. She had almost given up on baby food now too, but no teeth! She has been teething and acting like she will be getting teeth for forever now. But nothing to show for her effort. Luckily she is a good teething baby.

It has been raining like crazy here for the last week. Today was the first day we got sun; then it poured. Oh well. I don’t mind the rain when I am inside

Picture time...

Brannon passed out in my classroom one day last week. He is always the best help. I work him hard, if you couldn't tell..

O'lena standing on her own. She is becoming a big girl really fast.
O'lena hat montage......
This one was made by my aunt Sam. Please keep her in your prayers. She is suffering from cancer and her prognosis is not good.

Hehehehe I love this one. Daddy likes to play tug of war.

The best and WORST day of my career!

Sooooooooooo I received my first autistic kid-o. (Well real autistic kid. I had one before that wasn’t diagnosed yet but we were working on it, and he was mild in comparison.) I had met my new one before and knew that he had very good behaviors, but some more moderate tantrums. I was more worried about if something were to happen to set him off that I would not be able to calm him down. Well first day of school went very well. He did great. Second day………by the end of the day he was running around the room acting out Popeye the Sailor man and I’m stand there crying going “I just don’t know what to do!!!!!” sob, sob, sob. Imagine this… almost 6ft kid acting pulling out the spinach, ripping open the can, gobbling it down, growing out the muscles, pounding his chest, and one point on his hands and knees acting like the dog. Looking back now it was amazing, but at the moment I didn’t see the beauty in it. I wasn’t prepared. I had got ideas or control from his previous teacher, but they didn’t work! So what did I do? Cried. My other kids had saucers for eye balls and were like “What in the world is going on!?” Now that I am telling this story it is actually very comical. Luckily I have great help that helped redirect him and gave me a break. (I hadn’t had one for two days; no planning for me because we are short on interpreters, but that is another story.)

So on to my best day ever…the next day my kid-o comes in (after calling dad to see how they calm him at home) and says he is sorry for not listening and was great for the whole of the day, not one outburst! Actually all of my students were perfect. We had the best day ever! We sat in our seats, we paid attention, Mrs. Bryant felt good- not tired, lessons went perfect, and we learned a lot! We just had a really good day. I have to say one of my favorites of my career. Everything just flowed. It was extraordinary. It was the reason why I do what I do.

My summer is over!

I love this picture. She had a food face!

Now that we are back from Washington everything I am in panic mode. Somehow I lost a week in my summer. For some reason I was thinking I had two weeks to play before I was PLANNING on going back, but NOPE only one week!! I had two weeks until I HAD to be back. I am making myself go back on Monday and Tuesday to start everything then have a DHH teacher conference Wed, Thurs, and Fri. Then back to REAL work where I am required to be there. Grrrrr.

O’lena is starting daycare too on Monday. Our sitter told us last month that she would not be able to watch her in the fall. Luckily there was an opening at one of the places that we looked into when we were first searching. We went in this week to do all the paperwork and bring her stuff in. We were supposed to have met her teacher, but she had car trouble and was not there. That means we will meet her on Monday when she starts. I am very nervous for her going to a daycare. I guess the thing that bothers me the most is that I know she will get sick. She hasn’t been sick yet and I know she will get something. I am rational enough that it will happen and that it is a good thing, but mommy doesn’t want her baby not to feel good. L The kids in her class are big too. She will be the youngest for the first few weeks, and then when public school starts everyone will move up. She will stay in her room and the older infants from the younger infant room (the ones more her age) will be there with her. They thought it would be better then moving rooms again in three weeks. The good things are that she will have more structure activities, projects, and they go outside and play twice a day. I just know she won’t have the one on one anymore. Worried mommy…..Not only that...I am going out of town for that conference too. It will be the first time I am leaving her for more than a few hours. I not sure why I have to punish myself and leave for three days, but it should be good. Man, I am going to miss my baby! And my husband, of course, but I have been away from him before.

Oh man, she is scooting all over the place now! She is has gotten up on her knees are few times, but she has gotten the army crawl down pretty good. I don’t like the fact that I put her down somewhere and she comes to find me. She is really moving around. She is also WHISTLING! Yes, really whistling. We think she got it from her Grandma Bryant. She puckers up her mouth and blows and whistle comes out. It is soooooo cool!

What else is going on?.... My mother-in-law let me barrow this “Cook for a month” book. You are supposed to make all your meals for a month then freeze them until you are ready to eat. I really liked that idea so I am going to try it. Well I am going to try the two week plan first. I went grocery shopping and will cook everything tomorrow. Mom is going to help me. I am kind of excited to try. I think it might work. Since my summer is gone I coaxed my brothers into helping me finish all my chores around the house…since I only had a week left. They were awesome! They cleaned the baseboards, dusted, swept, mopped, watched the baby, and whatever else little job I have for them. They have been great.

I don’t want to go back to work!!! I am not ready. This summer did not happen. It is gone. I cannot believe it!! Well here are some more pictures of the baby….

Here are the boys with the baby. This was out at the beach before we left for Washington. She had a blast. She was in the water most of the time. She LOVES water!!

Passed out on the chair she loved being there. She just played and played and then passed out.

So we are one step closer to getting a shower. Derick grouted!! Now only three more steps left to go….

Our water baby. She is sitting up so good that she can take big girl baths now. I think this is my new favorite picture!

Hanging out with uncles. I think they all had fun :)
